Damara Bakes in Rainbow Valley
The book is about a little girl called Damara.Ā Ā Sheās almost 7 year old and lives with her mother Jennie, father Ben and little brother Ruben in a small town called Dunlin.Ā They have lived in the town for years, near the church in 5th street.Ā One of Damaraās favourite places to go was the forest near Dunlin.Ā She would play there from early morning to late afternoon as all the other children in town did.
One morning, before the sun peered over the mountains, Damara awoke.Ā With a broad grin, she wondered what adventures awaited her in the forest that day.Ā Excitedly she sprang up, dressed quickly and ran downstairs.Ā She told her mother that she was going to the forest, slipped out the front door and followed the footpath to the woods.
Damara followed the footpath into the forest.Ā She knew it like the back of her hand.Ā Birds sang everywhere and butterflies flew around her.Ā The leaves on the trees rustled softly and she thought to herself that she would never get used to all the beauty that radiated from her forest.
As she walked deeper into the forest, she saw a new path to her left.Ā She wondered why she hadnāt seen it before and decided to follow it.Ā It led to a bush with the prettiest red roses as big as both her fists.Ā Next to the bush was a narrow entrance.Ā A rope ladder tied to a big tree hung against the earthen wall.
She wondered why the ladder was there and was curious to find out.Ā She decided to climb the ladder.Ā When Damara reached the top, she couldnāt believe what she saw.Ā She had discovered a fairy-tale world.Ā There she made new friends and helped to bake delicious Red Velvet Cupcakes.
